Play Store Listing Optimization: A Complete 2026 Guide
Play Store ASO is different from iOS ASO. Different ranking factors, different fields, different experiments tool. Here's the full reference.
Play Store uses a full-text relevance model for ranking. That means every word in your title, short description and long description is a ranking signal. Repetition matters — carefully.
Title (30 chars)
Highest-weighted field. Brand + one qualifier. Same pattern as iOS.
Short description (80 chars)
Second-highest weight. Repeat your two most important keywords here, naturally.
Long description (4000 chars)
Medium weight. Use your top keywords 3–5 times each, spread across sections. Google will down-rank obvious stuffing.
Graphics signal too
Google's 2024–2025 changes weight install rate heavily in rankings. Better graphics → better install rate → better rank. The flywheel is real.
Store Listing Experiments
Google lets you A/B test every field. Test them one at a time (confounding is brutal) and let tests run at least 7 days.
