Play Store Store Listing Experiments: The Practical A/B Testing Guide
Store Listing Experiments are the most overlooked tool in Play Console. Here's how to run them so you actually learn something.
Google gives you free A/B testing on every element of your listing — icon, feature graphic, screenshots, short description. Most teams never touch it, or run it wrong.
Test one variable at a time
If you change icon and screenshots together and installs go up, you learned nothing about either. Run them sequentially.
Test length
Minimum 7 days. Target 14 days for anything besides massive-traffic apps. Shorter runs are statistically noisy.
Sample size
Each variant needs ≥ ~1000 impressions before you look at results. Google shows you real-time data — ignore it until day 4.
What to test first
Icon → first screenshot → short description → feature graphic, in that order. The first two usually produce the biggest effect sizes.
